I initially planned to do it backlighted, cause I wanted the way backlighted wings look, but then I ended up with much shadow and not much rim light to achieve the particular emphasis that I wanted. And so, this.

…Or is it? Anyway, I find aural light quite interesting. You have a character enveloped in light, so how are there shadows? There shouldn’t be any, right? I thought maybe there’s a main point in the energy field that emanates much stronger than the rest of the area — the source if you will. Guess, which point I chose for this piece. lolz

But yeah, aural light, what the heck. In Fairy Tail it was depicted as an underlighting. In Dragon Ball, they usually cel-shade the character as though they are lit on both sides. Hmmm, I’ll probably study how they did Mr. Manhattan in Watchmen next time I have to do this kind of thing. :\
